So it’s good to be home but oh, how I will miss the South West Coast Path. In the guide Wainwrite is quoted in relation to the Pennine way, but you substitute the SWCP: “You have completed a missionand satisfied and ambition. You have walked the SWCP as you dreamed of doing. This will be a very satisfying moment in your life. You will be tired hungry and travel stained. But you will feel great, just great.”
Oh how true those words ring. I undertook this challenge as I wanted to push myself whilst I am still fit enough to do so. I had the privilage of being surrounded by beauty every day. Sweeping hills and moors, long beaches, hidden coves, dramatic rock formations, crashing seas, steep cliffs, hard climbs and descents, . But I was also in the fresh air, with very few people around, being able to breath. I have met some amazing people,. mostly likeminded who share a love for the outdoor world, and for being kind and courteous. My love of this Country is stronger now than ever before, do not focus on the bad, but on the good, there is a lot of good out there.
I have so many people to thank, all of you who joined me on the journey, those of you who just came to offer support, and generously buy dinner. My friends and family who offered support and encouragement, either directly on via the blog. Everyone who generously allowed me to stay with them and put me up, or put up with me. But mostly those closest to me, Madeleine my wife for allowing me to up tent pegs and dissapear for seven weeks, she was more than likely pleased to get rid of me. My two sons, Gavin and Sam, and my Daughter Lauren for continuous support encouragement, and bring themselves and their families to join me along the way. It has been an awesome experience, never to be forgotten, and I am quite sad that this chapter is over. Thank you for taking time to read my ramblings and again responding.
