I could not have chosen a better place for a rest day. St Ives has everything, mostly good, wonderful beaches, lovely places to eat and drink, but too many people. The bonus has been having my family here, so I too advantage of Gav’s hotel this morning for a swim and a Jacuzzi. We all went to Mousehole for lunch and a sit on the beach, this is one of Madeleine’s favourite places in the world, you can feel Cornwall here, and the Ship Inn is a must for a visit.
So the end of another mixed week, some rubbish weather turned into wonderful sunshine, Madeleine arrived and we have a lovely apartment in the middle of St Ives for seven days, and then the big surprise of Gav, Catherine and Harry waitinf for me on the beach on the last part of the Hayle to St Ives leg. Gav joining me for probably the toughest day on the path to date yesterday was the icing on the cake.
A strange week ahead, three legs to get me to Marizion, where I leave the path for five days. The train drivers strike has meant more logistics with taxis and flights from Newquay, then out to Sicily for a celeration on Saturday, back on Sunday and very sadly Madeleine’s Mum’s funeral on Monday.
246 Miles covered, means the target now starts with a three, 384 Miles to go.
