You honestly loose track of the days, so Friday arrives and my “Guest” for the day is Ade Tullett. Ade and I have worked together for over 35 years. Now it would be fair to say that Ade is a man of stature, known by many as big Ade, and now by his trail name Baloo. Ade goes at his pace and I have so much admiration for him as he kept going every mile and we safely made it to Padsteine, I mean Padstow. This section of the path is probably a screenshot of the entire path. The first three mile from Port Isaac to Port Quin is very tough. Welcome to the path Ade. Port Quin is a very pretty port, and you get the sense of years gone by with the pilchards being driven and landed onto the small quay, some lovely little properties there now, but no fishing. The mid section takes you from Port Quin to Polzeth, rolling cliff tops some minor up and downs and a real feeling of remoteness, especially out at the Rumps and Pentire Point, where God decided it was time for us to get properly wet. You then turn inland to the most magical scene of Polzeth, a massive expanse of sand and sea, the surf is up and so are the beach boys and girls, riding the waves like we would walk to the shop. You get a real feeeling of a freestyle life here, its exhilarating, you just have to love this about Cornwall. A big sweep around the bay to Rock, with the Doom Bar in the Camel estuary, the golf course and then the ferry slipway to get across to Padstow. We meet a really nice guy from San Franscisco, Rich who is an architect (yes a nice arcjitect, who would have thought it) and has walked many trails in the UK, they just love the beauty of our wonderful Country, as do I. What a day, thank you Ade for sticking with it, and supporting me on my quest.
