We meet Sean in the car park in Westwood Ho at 08.45 to start our day and he has some how bumped into Bus Stop Socks and Timetable, who come to wish us well as they return to the States today, what a lovely couple. The guide book describes this section as strenuous, and is was not making it up. A gentle level path out of Westwood Ho turns into a roller coaster of a path with lots of steep steps, very muddy sections, Mr Mellish was soon on his backside. The sections ends with a 3 mile carriage drive made up of large gravel so it was a pleasure to see the visitor centre at Clovelly. We met a guy going the other way at Barton Wood who was walking and running from Lands End to John o Groats. Now that is a challenge. A tough day so far, then you deal with the logistice of the most beautiful village Clovelly. It really is chocolate box, but it rises from the sea with a road that must be 1 in 5 and is cobbled, so the last thing you need is for a 23 Kg bag to be dropped at the bottom, when your guset house is at the top !!!! But you just fall in love with the place, all owned by one family, so everthing is rented to generation after generation. A rest day tomorrow (Saturday) 99 miles covered to date and spirits still high, only 531 miles to go.
